Spring is Coming/Here?!

We have enjoyed a very mild winter this year, and that has been good and bad. Certainly the big up sides are being able to be outside more, keep more active, and not dealing with the problems associated with snow, especially driving in it! The big down sides however, have been persistent allergies, and a busy viral respiratory season. We have definitely seen more "chest colds", or viral lower respiratory tract infections, and pneumonia. Also, Influenza season is not over, it is just starting! So, keep up the good hand washing, and it's not too late to get a flu shot! With spring also comes time to schedule your child's check up! Summer is our peak season for check ups with kids out of school, so call sooner rather than later to get that scheduled!

Check Up vs. Sports Physical?!

Essentially these two terms are interchangeable! If your child sees us yearly for any type of check up or complete physical we can complete OHSAA forms for sports participation. A "sports physical" is actually a more limited examination that primarily contains a brief cardiac exam, and a check of muscles and joints. So, you should not feel pressured or obligated to attend any school's "clinics" for sports physicals. Best care is to see your primary care physician for your physical every year, so that all aspects of medical care can be evaluated and followed consistently, including making sure that all vaccines and blood work are up to date.
